Are you tired and frustrated by trying to do the right thing but everything seems to be going wrong? You watch TV for 5 minutes and people that clearly aren’t living for Jesus are sitting courtside at ball games, driving expensive cars, going on exotic vacations, etc… I struggle with this from time to time because it doesn’t feel very fair and guess what, it’s not.
I was recently feeling this way when I heard someone on the radio mention Daniel 7:25 – He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law (NASB)
Did you catch that? “…and wear down the saints of the Highest One.” If you have dedicated your life to Christ you are considered a saint and it is the enemy’s duty to specifically ruin your life! Once we accept Christ into our lives there is a huge target on our back because we become a tremendous threat to the enemy. Satan takes aim every single day to wear you down until you are ready to give up, throw in the white towel, and go back to a life before you knew Christ.
When we try to take satan head on and protect ourselves we will lose 100% of the time. The enemy has been doing this for far too long not to know how to wear us out and frustrate us to exhaustion. But this is where the Holy Spirit comes in. The Holy Spirit has power over satan and all his cronies. Look at Matthew 8:31-32; Jesus comes upon two demon possessed men and the demons said this to Jesus;
31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” 32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. (NIV)
The demons had power to overtake two men’s bodies, but they had to ask Jesus, who was filled with the Spirit, if they could leave them and go into the heard of pigs whom they killed. When you are a believer in Christ you are given the power of the Holy Spirit. Until then the enemy has power over you.
If you are experiencing feelings of frustration, exhaustion, weariness, desperation, etc.. then please turn to God and ask him for help. Speak to God in ways that are personal to you. If God has given you the gift of writing, singing/music, painting, running, reading, then use those gifts to speak and listen to God. He is such a personal God and is just waiting to hear from you. Don’t let the enemy wear you down, instead get energized from your heavenly father and the Holy Spirit!
Acts 1:8 – 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. (NIV)
