God Specifically Molded You to be You and No One Else

God molded me to be exactly who I am. Society norms are irrelevant. What other people think is not factual to God. How has God molded you?

God Specifically Molded You to be You and No One Else
God molded you specifically and intentionally. This mold is not intended for anyone else. Only your perfect chemistry makeup, your perfect personality, your perfect Christian views belong in this mold. No one else can fit into a mold that is not designated for them. It will not adapt to the specialness that God designed for you because it only belongs to you. Are you sick and tired of feeling like you need to fit into other people’s molds? We have our very own mold that God created us in. What do we think is wrong with the person God created us to be?
No longer will I attempt to fit into what society calls a “standard practice” when I have been deemed the daughter of Christ. Each of us is told, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13 NIV). Society does not give us strength; it’s the Word and the teachings of Christ that uplift us, set our paths straight, and define us. Society does not get to dictate how we do and live our lives.

How comfortable are you with going against the grain?

It’s nothing but God that gave my husband and me the courage to go against what society deemed as “standard practice” when we decided to elope with the blessing of our children and our family first (of course). I have to be honest; I was initially worried about what other people would say. Would they think we were rushing into something without giving it full prayer and thought? How would people accept our decision and not second guess our intentions? Would people in our lives question why we didn’t want to have a long engagement? How many people would feel the urge to tell us their own opinions? Do you see how society has its own way of putting seeds of negativity and doubt in our minds? Isn’t it strange how we can worry so much about other people and how others feel and potentially not do something that makes us happy?
We are not instructed to allow society to dictate our actions. Easier said than done, I know. The word tells us, “The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17 NIV. We all know the world will continue to make feeble attempts to tear us down. What we expose ourselves to creates doubts in our minds. The images we view daily that are constantly piped into our minds tell us we aren’t good enough and much more.

God molded you to live your life according to His word, not the opinions of society.

Regardless of what my fears were about other people’s opinions, I was able to find myself being comfortable with our decision. Comfortable regardless of any chatter that may have been happening around us. That chatter, which is just distractions, can be detrimental to your mindset and, ultimately, your walk with God. If we allow other people’s opinions, or society, to try and make decisions for us and distort our minds, we can find ourselves trapped. Trapped in a cycle of trying to please others instead of living for God. We may find ourselves making decisions and living a lifestyle that does not fulfill our desires to be like Christ. Instead, we can get caught up trying to be what society wants us to be and acting how others say we should act.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. – Isaiah 64:8 NIV

So many people have their own viewpoints and perspectives on your life, but what does God say? How often are you going to God in prayer when it comes to making decisions, or how to best handle situations?

God does not intend for us to do life alone.

On March 23rd, 2018, my husband and I celebrated our wedding reception with close family and friends, I remember that life is not about what other people think. Life is not about following what society calls standard practice. When we go to God in prayer and seek His will for our lives, we will not go wrong. No, we did not follow what society deems as standard practice. Yes, we eloped and are now celebrating the way we want to. There are several things we did do. We went to God in prayer, we sought Godly counsel, and we partnered with our church community and attending amazing marriage courses. We plan to continue to pour into our marriage with marriage conferences, staying in the right community with other married couples, and investing in our marriage. See, it doesn’t matter what society said we should do. What matters is what the Word tells us to do. We ensured our actions had God first, and above all else, it is about love.

Do not forget God molded you with purpose.

The enemy tries to tell us that who we are is not good enough. That how we behave is not cool enough. The enemy tries to tell us God doesn’t love us just the way we are. My prayer for each of us is that we do not allow the enemy’s lies to penetrate our minds. That we do not give the enemy any authority over us. My prayer for each of us is to stay rooted in God’s word and remember our identity is in Christ.

Question from Virginia A. DePratter, the author.

How has God specifically created you to break the mold of society?

Written by Virginia A. DePratter

I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world, than to stand with the world and be judged by God. My mission in life is to help others see their full potential and help people maximize their talents.
